The Lauragais
Simply stunning
Welcome to the Lauragais
There are a vast number of lakes in the region with a wide range of activities that take place in and around the lake.
  • Lac St Ferreol - an artificial reservoir created in 1672, it is here that the water from the Montagne Noire is collected to feed the Canal du Midi. Around the lake is an arboretum and a wood of pine trees. Leisure facilities at the lake include an equestrian centre, you can also hire pedalos, sail, or windsurf. There is a  crazy golf course and a small climbing wall. Around the edges of the lake there are sandy beaches. During summer months there is an area of the lake cordoned off and watched by lifeguards. The fresh mountain water makes swimming here a delight. Around the lake are a number of restaurants and cafes making it an ideal day out.
  • Also in the Montagne Noire are Lac Lampy and Lac Cammazes, both are suitable for swimming.
There are a number of small man made lakes that are perfect for a gentle stroll, a picnic or a spot of fishing.
  • Lac Thesaques
  • Lac Ganguise
  • Lac Lenclas
  • Lac Le Vaux
  • Lac Vallegue
