Situated between Toulouse and Carcassonne, it is easy to find flights to the region,. There are frequent flights from the UK and Belgium with low cost carrier Ryanair into Carcassonne . Toulouse is served by Easy Jet, British Airways and Jet 2 from the UK, internal flights from Paris and other major French cities are available daily. It is equally well served by rail, however the best way to visit the area and to see all it has to offer is by car.
The Lauragais is easily reached by exiting the A61 the Autoroute that runs from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. Driving along you will see many hill top villages or
bastides, with their
clochers-mur, church bells built into walls.
With more than 2000 hours of sunshine per year, it is an area that can be appreciated year-round. Temperatures rise to over 25 degrees for between 60 and 80 days of the year. The weather can be incredibly mild in early Spring and late Autumn.
